~~~ The Rose Arts Centre teaches in the ATELIER method. This age old tradition of classical training has been handed down for centuries from master to student. We feel the best way to learn art is to start with building a strong foundation of skills: drawing, painting, sculpture as well as the studying and reproducing Masters' work. This takes many years to accomplish and is an endeavor well worth the time. We believe there is no short cut to doing quality art and just as the musician, athlete, or dancer take many years of training and dedication to develop their skills, so does the artist.
We base our teaching of art on classical visual elements and principles; line, color, shape, form, tone, pattern, balance and design - as well as art history, media exploration, creative self-expression, cultural appreciation, right-brain drawing techniques, anatomy and studying of the Masters. We provide an exciting and nurturing environment with only 6 students per teacher where much individual attention can be directed towards each student. We work with ages 7 - adult, from the beginner to the more advanced student. It is our belief that anyone can learn to draw given the proper instruction and dedicating the time required to learn the skill. For students serious about pursuing art as a career, I am here to bring that student along, helping them to build their skills, their work ethic, and their portfolios so they may be better prepared to be accepted and succeed in design school or an arts related major at college. With my background of 20+ years as a professional graphic designer and art director I can offer these students much insight as to what to expect in the professional world and introduce them to the multitude of professional design careers that may open doors for them on their path as an artist. Most of all students will experience a love of art, color, and design while expanding their visual problem solving skills in a fun and engaging program. I look forward to sharing the beauty of the art world with you. |
